DC Movies Podcast – Episode 3: Man Of Steel – Love It or Hate It?

Here we go, in episode three of the DC Movies Podcast, your hosts Gregg Katzman, Rose Moore and Chris Doucher revisit the 2013 hit, Man of Steel. This was the first in the launch of the DC Extended Movie Universe. A lot of people loved it and almost the same amount of people hated it. They say that hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn. Well, hell hath no fury like the scorn Rose Moore has for Man of Steel. And you know what? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Gregg and Chris definitely loved – and still do love – this movie. In episode three the hosts give you their thoughts on the look and story on Krypton, Henry Cavill as Superman, Ma and Pa Kent, Amy Adams’s Lois Lane portrayal, the fight of fights in Smallville, product placement and the final battle/destruction and final scene with Zod.

Official Man of Steel Synopsis:

“From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes “Man of Steel,” starring Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Kal-El under the direction of Zack Snyder. A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.”

It’s really frustrating to listen to someone critisize a film with things that are explained in the film, while she’s actively saying that she didn’t pay attention to it 😛

In regards to the humor, I thought there was the perfect amount. I’m glad there weren’t much one-liners (as the MCU films have made me quite sick of them. Especially one’s that don’t fit, for example, in the middle of a battle) and that the humor was more subtle. I thought Supes staring into Pete Ross was funny enough and a line would’ve completely ruined it.
